Please take a moment to pray for little Lyla, who is 2 years old. Lyla is the youngest of four daughters to Abby and Brett.  Lyla was diagnosed earlier this year with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. On August 17 she started a new, intense dose of chemotherapy which she ended up being allergic to and had to be taken to Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.
Update 8/21: Lyla responded well to the allergy treatment. She will be starting a different chemo treatment. Continued prayers!
 

Ryker and his 4 year old twin brother, Luke, are the children of Megan and Travis. Ryker has Leigh Syndrome (described below) and is currently hospitalized, as he is not eating or drinking and has developed tremors. Please pray for Ryker and his family during this difficult time.
Leigh Syndrome: In a healthy cell, mitochondria turn food into energy so your brain, nerves, heart, and muscles can function. In Leigh syndrome, a genetic change damages the mitochondria, so they can’t make enough energy. This especially harms the brain and spinal cord, which need a lot of energy to work properly. Without enough energy, brain and nerve cells start to die. This can cause progressive loss of skills — like walking, talking, or swallowing — and can also cause problems with breathing, heart function, and movement. There is currently no cure for Leigh syndrome.
Update 8/21: Ryker is heading home from the hospital today! Prayers continue that he will be able to maintain his energy levels and live the life of a 4 year old.

Roberto is the 6 year old son of Elizabeth and Robert. After unwarranted bruising and extended bloody noses, Roberto was found to have an extremely low blood platelet count (causing his blood to not clot correctly and putting him at risk for excess bleeding). He is going through testing to find out why his blood platelet count is so low.  Please pray for healing, that he is able to be seen by a specialist soon and get answers, for peace of mind for his parents, and that it is not serious.
Update: Prayers are helping and have been greatly appreciated! Roberto had an appointment with a specialist in early August and had some testing done. He is showing some improvements and has an appointment later in the month to hopefully find out test results.

Jeri has Vestibular Migraines and a large PFO (hole in the heart) and has been struggling with daily dizziness and migraines for over a year, unable to find a successful treatment thus far.
August Update:  Jeri continues to manage the migraines and dizziness while working with her medical team to see if a cause can be found and fixed. Good days are few and far between. Please pray for comfort and successful treatment options.

Daniel (son of Harry and Jeanine) and his wife Alex had twins born July 7th. The twins, Ella and Henry, were born about a month early and spent a month in the NICU. They are now both home, healthy, and doing well! Prayers for good health! Gratitude towards the Lord and all he has done and continues.

Channon (Bugs N’ Stuff) has recently gone through chemo and radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Mid-June he had a re-scan completed and was found to have new growth in lymph node.
August Update: At this time doctors are taking a ‘wait and watch’ approach for this “chronic cancer.” He wants to thank everyone who has prayed for him and continues to pray.
 

Please continue to keep Rodney in your prayers.
A large mass was found on the left frontal lobe of Rodney’s brain on July 30th. He underwent surgery on August 3rd in Mason City to have it removed. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and the surgeon believes the mass was benign. Since then, Rodney has had a difficult recovery, including going in and out of the ICU.
8/23/26- Doctors have found the source of his blood loss and are treating him for ulcers. Thankfully, his blood counts are improving, the antibiotics are working, and there have been some encouraging signs. The hope now is that he continues to get stronger and can come home soon.
Please pray for continued healing, strength, and patience for Rodney, and for comfort and peace for his family.

Karen has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy in February and underwent chemotherapy in Mason City April through July 2026. Karen started experiencing daily migraines in June.
Update 8/21 : Karen is receiving radiation treatments on weekdays in Mason City. Her first radiation treatment started on 8/10 and she will continue them for over 3 weeks. Help with prepared meals has been much appreciated!

Allison L has been struggling with extreme, unexpected vertigo. She has been diagnosed with Meniere’s disease but has been unable to find successful treatment. Meniere's vertigo can last minutes to hours and include nausea and also typically involves fluctuating hearing loss, and tinnitus. Pray that she is able to find peace, comfort, and a successful treatment option.

 David, Donna M's brother, received a great report on Friday! His scans showed no signs of cancer! We pray for his continued healing, good health and gratitude for all that the Lord has done and continues. All of your prayers are appreciated and have been such a blessing to the family!

Please keep Tara (Kathy & Vern's daughter) in your prayers. She had emergency surgery mid-March to remove a mass from her colon. Due to the extended anesthesia, pain medications and a few complications, and her body is struggling to adjust back to normal. Tara needs to be able to begin eating solid food and walking more to regain strength.

Angie has Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer and struggles with near constant pain. She has recently been struggling with pain and an infection in her foot. Angie has a bone biopsy scheduled for 7/10 to see if the infection has spread to the bone.
August Update: Angie had the top of her toe amputated July 24th. She continues to have multiple medical appointments. Keep her and her medical team in you prayers.

Bill Cook passed away after an extended hospitalization. A visitation will be held at Oakcrest Funeral Home in Algona on Tuesday, March 31st, 4:00-7:00pm. Bill's funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 1st, at 11:00am. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Lavern was diagnosed with colon cancer some time ago and has been receiving palliative care. In March 2026 he began sleeping more and having more bad days, leading to needing more care than he was able to get in his home. Lavern has moved into the nursing home and began receiving hospice care.
Lavern passed away on March 26. Please keep the family in your prayers. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10am in Tripoli.

David is awaiting biopsy results of a tumor near the bile duct and will be having surgery to remove his gall bladder due to stones. David has been the primary caretaker of their father.
Update: Biopsy results on his gallbladder were inconclusive so an MRI will be completed 3/20. 

Don was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, which is a rare, aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He continues to undergo chemotherapy treatment at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

John had a cardiac ablation on February 27.
Update: the procedure went well! John is feeling well and no longer having symptoms

Shian has testicular cancer that has spread. He has had two surgeries and has begun chemotherapy for the tumors that are not able to be surgically removed.

Jenn is receiving aggressive cancer treatment. Although she is currently doing well, she could use more prayers to keep her going.

Please pray for "K", who is going through a difficult time in his life.

Please keep Pam U, sister of Kathy N, and the family in your prayers. They found that Pam's lung cancer has spread to her liver.

Joan M (Connie & Dale) will be having surgery tomorrow, Monday. Please pray for a safe successful surgery and quick recovery. We also pray for safe travels for Connie, who will be helping during the recovery.

Donna M's brother, Dennis, passed away this afternoon. Please keep the family in your prayers.
